Before embarking on the odyssey that is Gerhard Richter’s Panorama at Tate Modern, the manfriend and I sat down on the floor of the Turbine Hall and drifted off into the woozy, surreal world of Tacita Dean’s FILM. The thirteen metre tall projection features colour, black and white and hand-tinted film of the natural world, everyday occurrences and bizarre montages of the two.
I love the Turbine Hall; it’s such a contemplative space where you can just sit and be still and hide away from the world – exactly what I think galleries should be.
A huge black haven of sorts.
Anyway, I can’t even attempt to describe the experience so just have a look…
…and here’s some fascinating info from the artist herself.
Look out for the green ray.
